Congratulations to TOMA's own Dr. Don Polk, for being Elected to the Board of Federation of State Medical Boards

Donald H. Polk, D.ODonald H. Polk, D.O., a family practice physician and vice president and secretary of the Tennessee Board of Osteopathic Examination, was elected to a three-year term as a director on the board of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) during the organization’s 98th Annual Meeting held in April in Chicago, Ill.

The FSMB is a national not-for-profit organization representing the 70 state medical and osteopathic boards of the United States. The organization’s mission is to promote excellence in medical practice, licensure and regulation as the national resource and voice on behalf of state medical boards in their protection of the public.

2009 Mayor's Awards Reception

Our own Dr. Michael Miller has received the Healthcare Provider of the Year Award from the Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities in recognition of his work in improving and enhancing the lives of people with disabilities. The award was presented to Dr. Miller during an awards ceremony and reception held at the Frist Center in Nashville.

Doctor of the Day at the State Capitol

TOMA has been assigned the “Doctor of the Day” on Capitol Hill each Wednesday from 8:30am to 12:30pm during the 2010 Legislative Session. It is very important that we fill our Wednesdays throughout the session. Please take a moment to check your calendar for a possible day! This is a great way to establish relationships with legislators and enlighten this important group about the Osteopathic Medical profession.

AACOM's College Information Book (CIB) is the official publication for prospective applicants, students, pre-health advisors and others interested in gaining information about or applying to the nation's osteopathic medical colleges.

HIT and Meaningful Use

Washington, D.C. November 11 2009 —The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) which was signed into law on February 17 creates two key concepts to determine whether eligible professionals qualify for HIT incentive payments - they must make “meaningful use” of HIT and in addition use a qualified or certified electronic health record.
