Support for HB 2008/SB 1522, the Tennessee Civil Justice Act of 2011The AOA and the Tennessee Osteopathic Medical Association sent this letter to Governor Haslam, expressing our support for HB 2008/SB 1522, the Tennessee Civil Justice Act of 2011. The reforms, which have passed the legislature, include a $750,000 limit on jury awards for non‐economic damages in medical malpractice cases and a limit on punitive damages of two times the compensatory damages or $500,000, whichever is greater. The bills are a part of Governor Haslam’s legislative package for the year.
