Change to CME Requirements Makes Maintaining AOA Membership Easier

At its 2011 Mid-Year Meeting, the AOA Board of Trustees approved a policy that will assist ABMS board certified members in maintaining AOA membership. The new policy will apply to the current 2010-2012 CME cycle, which ends on Dec. 31.
ABMS board certified only DOs:

  • Must participate in a 10 credit (minimum) AOA sponsored CME program during a three year cycle (earn 10 AOA Category 1-A credits per cycle).
  • Can participate as planners, attendees, presenters or facilitators.
  • Must continue to meet the total 120 credit requirement for membership.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the policy, please do not hesitate to contact the AOA Division of CME at (312) 202-8262 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for additional information.
