The Tennessee Osteopathic Medical Association was founded in 1918 and continues to grow today. Our over 100 members work to ensure that laws and regulations promote the health and well-being of Tennesseans and the osteopathic medical profession.

TOMA has been successful in advocating for physician parity in Tennessee and is frequently called upon to intervene in behalf of osteopathic medicine. TOMA successfully introduced and secured passage of this legislation, which protects osteopathic physicians from professional discrimination because of medical training or board certification. Learn more about the benefits of membership in TOMA. TOMA assists the TN Department of Health in recruitment efforts. Students can obtain medical loan repayment programs, practice start-up grants, technical assistance and income subsidies. The State of TN also provides financial assistance to qualified physicians interested in practicing in medically under-served areas.
