TOMA has been successful in advocating for physician parity in Tennessee and is frequently called upon to intervene in behalf of osteopathic medicine. TOMA successfully introduced and secured passage of this legislation, which protects osteopathic physicians from professional discrimination because of medical training or board certification. TOMA assists the TN Department of Health in recruitment efforts. Students can obtain medical loan repayment programs, practice start-up grants, technical assistance and income subsidies. The State of TN also provides financial assistance to qualified physicians interested in practicing in medically under-served areas.
