The Tennessee Osteopathic Medical Association was founded in 1918 and continues to grow today. Our over 100 members work to ensure that laws and regulations promote the health and well-being of Tennesseans and the osteopathic medical profession.

TOMA is governed by an Executive Board which includes representatives from the three Districts of Tennessee. The TOMA Board emphasizes activities that include government relations, continuing medical education (including District meetings), communications, and representation on government boards and commissions. Check our officers/staff page or committees to find out about the people and the organizational structure that make TOMA tick.

Doctors checking the patients - June 2008TOMA has been successful in advocating for physician parity in Tennessee and is frequently called upon to intervene in behalf of osteopathic medicine. TOMA successfully introduced and secured passage of this legislation, which protects osteopathic physicians from professional discrimination because of medical training or board certification. Learn more about the benefits of membership in TOMA.

TOMA assists the TN Department of Health in recruitment efforts. Students can obtain medical loan repayment programs, practice start-up grants, technical assistance and income subsidies. The State of TN also provides financial assistance to qualified physicians interested in practicing in medically under-served areas.
